Day 03, Sunday, Haverfordwest

Breakfast in the hotel dining room. The dining room seemed a bit formal for the likes of us, but breakfast was very good. Rain was forecast for today, and it was raining already as we  left the hotel. Still, people walked their dogs and got wet.

It didn’t stop for hours as we drove west on the M4. It was often hard to see the “poor driving conditions” signs through the rain and vehicle spray. At one stage the traffic was stationary for about 20 minutes as a crash was cleaned up.

We spent an hour or so at a service centre cafe near Swansea deciding to book a room in the East Hook Farmhouse near Haverfordwest. After that the rain eased off and we decided to go to St Davids to see the Cathedral, smallest in the UK.

There is no concept of of free parking here in the UK. Vive la France!

Then to the B&B near Haverfordwest. Theresa got us there in the end, with some confusion, and us ignoring her and following Google maps instead. The farm house originated in the 18th century  and seems to have about 6 guest bedrooms.

There, Jen recommended The Ocean restaurant on the beach at Broad Haven. Anne loved the Jaffa ice cream.

Jen had demonstrated the ”macerator” in the sewerage system that ran every time anyone flushed the toilet. She asked us not to flush overnight as it was quite loud for everyone. She was right, it sounded like a wood chipper. Just running a tap triggered it too.
