Our bed was too short and we had a not-so-great night’s sleep. We could pull the doona under our chins and count our toes. Breakfast almost, but not quite, made up for the bed.

Anne spent today searching for where her great grandmother lived in the 19th century. We started with the public library in Amlwch. The lady there recommended the Anglesey Archives, in Llangefni, near the centre of Anglesey. Theresa got us there OK, and in the Archive office, Ivan was very helpful and spent over an hour with us. Today we went on the railway to the summit of Mt Snowdon.

Up early to get to the ticket office by 7am. No queue, so back to the hotel for breakfast,  checkout, move the car to a £5 per day Pay and Display. The machine would not take one of my £1 coins, minted in 1996. Back at the ticket office at 8am we were first in line. Next person in line told me my old coins won’t work, and I can’t even spend them now. They had paid £8 to park across the road in the main car park, about 50 metres from the £5 park. The king sized bed was very comfy and breakfast the best yet. Jen bakes the bread and makes jam as well. And the wifi worked very well, the photos moved from iphone to icloud to ipad and I could add them to this blog at last. 

Today is August bank holiday Monday, which marks the end of summer here. Anne wanted to see the town of Fishguard, a port, and also Pentre Ifan, a megalithic burial chamber about 20km from Fishguard. We walked around Fishguard, and down to the port. It was quiet, since this town does not attract holiday makers. We still had to pay to park the car for a couple of hours.
